Splint Care
Therapy Splint
Your splint is made out of a low temperature plastic material. It will melt in warm water or if left near any heat source. (i.e. in the car on a warm, sunny day, near a heat vent, in any direct sunlight, etc.).
To clean your splint, wipe it down on the inside with rubbing alcohol or a wet towel with mild soap. DO NOT put it in the washing machine, dryer, or dishwasher.
You will be provided with 3 stockinette liners for use under the splint. To clean them, wash them in warm soapy water and air dry. If you want more stockinette please talk to the therapy department. Some types of stockinette (thumb liners) will need to be purchased at $2.00 each.
If you have any areas of pressure from the splint, call the therapy department to make an appointment to have it adjusted. Please do not come in without calling. If you show up to the office without an appointment you may not be able to be seen that day if the therapy department is busy. We want to accommodate your request and will find a time for you when you call.

Delta Splint Care
Your splint is made out of a special casting material that is durable, yet flexible. This allows the cast to be removable.
If the doctor allows you to remove your splint, it may be cleaned as follows:
**Wash in cool water on the gentle cycle in the washing machine
**Allow to air dry or tumble dry on a cool/low setting
Stockinette liners may be used under the splint. They will help to keep the splint clean by absorbing moisture. To clean them, wash them in warm soapy water and air dry. If you want more stockinette please talk to the therapy department.
