Therapy Office Policies

Insurance

We recommend you check insurance coverage for therapy at Hand Surgery Ltd. Your insurance company may ask the type of therapy or for more information about where you will be having treatment. The therapy ordered for you will be provided by an Occupational Therapist at one of three locations we offer. All offices are considered the same for billing purposes and have the same Tax Identification Number (TIN).. If you have any questions or concerns regarding therapy coverage, please talk with a therapist.

Cell Phones

As a courtesy to other patients and your therapist, please turn your cell phone off before entering therapy. If you need to make a call during therapy, please do so in the lobby area. If there are special circumstances requiring you to leave your phone on, please put it in the silence/vibrate mode.

Arriving for your Appointment

Go directly to the therapy department to check in. You do not need to check in at the main desk unless you also have an appointment with the doctor. If you are early for an appointment we recommend you check in upon arrival. If your therapist is available, you may be able to be seen early. If you are late for an appointment, you may or may not be able to be seen depending on the therapist’s schedule.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel an appointment please call the office where you are attending therapy.

No Shows

If you are unable to attend a therapy appointment and do not call to cancel, it is considered a no show. After 3 consecutive no shows or 1 no show and 2 weeks without rescheduling, you will be required to recheck with the doctor to get further therapy orders.

Splint Adjustments

Please call ahead to schedule splint adjustments.

Equipment

Any equipment ordered by the doctor or issued by your therapist is considered optional but has been ordered to enhance your rehabilitation. Most items are not covered by insurance. Your therapist will discuss options with you.

Fit for Duty Evaluation

If a functional performance test (ordered for some workers compensation cases) has been ordered by your doctor, Hand Sugery Limited will call your insurance carrier for authorization prior to scheduling your appointment. When the appointment is scheduled you will be informed that the test may take up to 2 hours. If you need to cancel or reschedule this test please call as soon as possible. If your therapist allows you to reschedule a second time, you will be reminded that 3 cancellations are not allowed.
